ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
We are all born with incredible light inside of us, but most people have difficulty believing that we are the light of the world. Yet when we discover our essence and the ultimate beauty within us, we begin to do our best work.
In this weekend experience, internationally acclaimed author Debra Landwehr Engle helps us explore ways to reimagine ourselves and our lives through writing, and to maintain our own light in today’s world.
Themes will include how to foster self-love, forgiveness, and care of the spirit. We'll discuss how to view the world with new eyes, move beyond judgment, detach with love, rise above daily drama and more.
Inspired by Debra’s upcoming book, Be the Light that You Are, this unique workshop will combine journaling, reflection and focused writing. In concert with the energy of the new year, it will guide participants to uncover the resolutions of their spirit and write their best self into being.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Debra Landwehr Engle is the bestselling author of The Only Little Prayer You Need: The Shortest Route to a Life of Joy, Abundance and Peace of Mind, featuring a foreword by the Dalai Lama and an endorsement by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. Her book, Let Your Spirit Guides Speak, includes practical ways for readers to build a relationship with their spiritual guidance. It received a Nautilus Award, honoring “better books for a better world.”
Debra’s latest book, Be the Light That You Are: Ten Simple Ways to Transform Your World with Love, will be released in April 2019. Based on ten universal principles, it inspires readers to put their spiritual practice in action and provides concrete ways to do so.
A longtime freelance writer and editor for Meredith Corporation, Debra’s articles have been seen in numerous national magazines. She also has contributed to anthologies such as The Art of Living, in which her work was featured alongside that of Deepak Chopra, Mikhail Gorbachev, Thich Nhat Hanh, Mario Vargas Llosa and others.
In addition, as a student of A Course in Miracles for the past 30 years, she teaches classes in the Course, which is also the focus of authors like Marianne Williamson and Jon Mundy. Much of her writing is based on these teachings, as well as a program of women’s spirituality that Debra and a colleague co-created in 2003.

INSTRUCTOR INSPIRATION STATEMENT
I’ve always believed that writing and life are the same thing. The more we learn about one, the more we enrich the other. That’s why I think writing for self-discovery is so important, whether you use it to clarify your goals or to explore sides of yourself that you’ve never fully known.
I’ve seen the effects of journaling and reflective writing in my own life. Some of my biggest ah-ha moments have stared me in the face when I’ve found myself writing things I didn’t know I knew. Those insights have given my life and my writing greater focus and direction.
I’ve seen this happen again and again for others, too. When you’re willing to be vulnerable, a simple question or writing prompt can open up an entirely new relationship with your inner self. And in the end, that relationship is always affirming, even if you’re not sure that’s possible.
We’re often afraid to reflect on our lives because we don’t want to revisit a painful past. But 100 percent of the time, if we truly look within, we’re going to find light there. That’s a discovery worth making.
